Learn More

Welcome to the Northeast Florida chapter of the Sisters in Crime organization.  If you’re a mystery, crime, or thriller writer or reader, the following should be of interest to you.

Some of our programs consist of speakers in forensic science, psychology, and law enforcement fields to continue feeding interest in crime for both writers and readers of mysteries.  We invite fellow authors to speak about their journey to becoming published, as well as their writing process, including tips and tricks they’ve successfully used.

Although our name is NE Florida Sisters in Crime, we welcome men and women with an interest in mystery writing and reading and those with an interest in promoting the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

Welcome to Northeast Florida’s Sisters in Crime. I’m Lana McAra, your Sisters in Crime Chapter President for 2023. We have exciting plans coming up for this year.

Our goal for the monthly meetings is to provide resources for your crime novel research–from private investigators to experts in missing persons to forensic specialists–we are bringing in people who work in fields that contain fascinating material for a mystery.

This year, we are introducing a hybrid Zoom/in-person meeting format. To expand our reach for guests, we are bringing them into the meeting room via Zoom and setting up to have paying members attend the meetings from anywhere. This brings so much potential for guests outside of the Jacksonville area to share their wisdom with us, and also expands our ability to welcome chapter members from other areas.

We are anticipating the return of our popular annual writers workshop featuring a 5-star speaker, book tables, a pop-up author photo booth, raffles, and other exciting opportunities. Stay tuned for more on the workshop soon.

Please share your ideas and insights with us via email and social media. We’d love to hear from you.

See you at our next meeting!

Lana McAra
