NE Florida Sisters in Crime

Local Chapter of the National Organization

Sisters in Crime

Welcome to the Northeast Florida chapter of the Sisters in Crime organization.  If you’re a mystery, crime, or thriller writer or reader, the following should be of interest to you.

Some of our programs consist of speakers in forensic science, psychology, and law enforcement fields to continue feeding interest in crime for both writers and readers of mysteries.  We invite fellow authors to speak about their journey to becoming published, as well as their writing process, including tips and tricks they’ve successfully used.

RSVP FOR OUR NEXT WRITERS WORKSHOP

Although our name is NE Florida Sisters in Crime, we welcome men and women with an interest in mystery writing and reading and those with an interest in promoting the professional development and advancement of women crime writers to achieve equality in the industry.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

From the President

Welcome to Northeast Florida’s Sisters in Crime. I’m Lana McAra, the chapter president for 2024 – 2025. We have exciting plans coming up this year.

Our goal for the monthly meetings is to provide resources for your crime novel research—from private investigators to experts in missing persons, and forensic specialists—we are bringing in people who work in fields that make fascinating material for a mystery.

To expand our reach, we are inviting the public to attend via Zoom as well as at the Ponte Vedra Beach Library. This opens up to both speakers and attendees outside the Jacksonville area, and also expands our ability to accept chapter members from other areas as well.

We are also planning a one-day workshop this year, with two 5-star speakers, book tables and other exciting opportunities. Stay tuned for more on the workshop soon.

Please share your ideas and insights with us via email and social media. We’d love to hear from you.

See you at our next meeting!

Lana McAra

If so, you have landed at the right place! To satisfy our bloodthirsty penchants, we meet once a month to hear the gruesome, delectable details from surrounding-area crime professionals of how the world’s murders are created — and solved.
