September 6th Workshop – Firearms in Fiction with Marcus Melnick
Join us Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:15 a.m.–1:00 p.m. via Zoom for an eye-opening session with Marcus Melnick, Anti-Violence Specialist.
Marcus brings decades of experience in public safety, criminal justice, and personal protection. He is the host of The Personal Safety Show and has trained countless people to recognize and respond effectively to violent situations. His talk, “Firearms in Fiction,” will equip writers with a grounded understanding of firearms, stress responses, and how to accurately portray both in storytelling.
Marcus combines expertise with humor to keep even the most serious subjects engaging. Whether you’re writing crime fiction, thrillers, or suspense, this session will help you bring realism and depth to your characters and plots.

Double Vision 2025 Recap – A Day of Writing Inspiration
Our Double Vision 2025 Writers Workshop on July 26th was a grand success! Writers gathered both in-person and online for a full day of learning, networking, and inspiration. Here are a few highlights:
Dr. Tammy Euliano – Shared her journey from medical textbooks to medical thrillers, along with research strategies using both traditional sources and new AI tools like Perplexity and Notebook LM.
Writing Software Tools – A deep dive into productivity boosters from Scrivener, Plotter, and Kindle Scribe to editing software like ProWritingAid, AutoCrit, and Grammarly. A great reminder: back up your work three times!
Author JD Allen – Explored the power of voice in fiction, showing how style, tone, and rhythm make characters authentic. She also gave an engaging talk on dialogue—how it reveals character, drives tension, and keeps readers hooked.
The day reminded us how research, craft, and technology can work together to elevate our writing.
